Is It The Wind? (A Poem)

The warm sun and
Gentle rain
Spend so much time
Caring for the earth -
The grass, the plants, the flowers.

I wonder if
Tornadoes offend them,
Sun and Rain.
I wonder if,
After all that time
After all that care…

In their eternal dance
The sun, the rain,
The sun, the rain,
Do they feel resentful
Of the Tornado?

So quickly,
So unthinkingly,
Their careful work
Destroyed.
Undone in a moment.

Oh! The grass, the plants,
The colorful little flowers
Blooming just so.
Oh! Precious earth
Thrown about into sudden disorder.

I also wonder if, maybe, just a little,
Although Sun could not do
Without her dance partner
Although Sun has
Destructive power of her own

I wonder if she,
Perhaps,
Just a little,
Just sometimes,
Blames the rain.
